Dedicated Tutor: Meet one-on-one with an adult learner once or twice per week at the library. Volunteer applicants must be willing to meet learners at East Oakland library branches. Minimum time commitment: 1.5-2 hours/week for 6 months.

Drop-In Tutor: Meet with adult learners who need extra help or who are waiting for a tutor. Minimum time commitment: 1.5-2 hours/week for 3-6 months.

Special Programs: Assist Second Start staff with events or programs such as Book Clubs, Classes, Learning Groups, or Field Trips. Time Commitment: varies depending on event or program.
