    Description

    Court Appointed Special Advocate Volunteer

A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer is a trained community member appointed by a judge to advocate for the best interests of a child or youth involved in the foster care system. CASA volunteers build consistent, supportive relationships with the children they serve while gathering information from caregivers, educators, service providers, and family members to help the court make informed decisions.

CASA volunteers ensure that a child’s needs, strengths, and goals remain at the center of the dependency process. They monitor progress, advocate for access to services and educational support, and provide the stability of a trusted adult during a period often marked by uncertainty and transition

How to Volunteer for This Opportunity

Children and youth with a CASA volunteer benefit from consistent advocacy that ensures their needs are heard and addressed throughout their legal journey. Studies show that children with a CASA volunteer are more likely to find safe, permanent homes, succeed in school, and avoid re-entering foster care or the juvenile justice system. CASA volunteers provide critical emotional support and stability, offering comfort and care during turbulent times. Their personalized, one-on-one attention allows them to understand each child’s unique needs, providing tailored advocacy and support. By empowering children to have their voices heard and rights respected, CASA volunteers help restore agency and stability during challenging times.
