    Become a Man Without a Man, Inc. (BMWM) is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to transforming the lives of at-risk young men inHampton Roads, VA. Our mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment where these young men can develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed. Our vision is to inspire and empower young men to rise above adversity, build strong foundations of character, and become the confident leaders of tomorrow. Through mentoring, life skills workshops, educational support, and community engagement activities, BMWM equips young men with the tools they need to break cycles of poverty, violence, and hopelessness.     Opportunity Description:

    Become a Man Without a Man is seeking a passionate and skilled Volunteer Grant Writer to play a critical role in securing the funding needed to sustain and expand our impactful mentorship program. This program provides vital support and guidance to at-risk young men, helping them overcome challenges, develop positive self-esteem, and pursue their educational and career goals. As a Volunteer Grant Writer, you will directly contribute to our ability to reach more young men and provide them with the resources they need to thrive. This is an exceptional opportunity to leverage your grant writing expertise to make a tangible difference in the lives of youth and help build a stronger, more equitable community.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct thorough research to identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies that align with BMWM's mission and program objectives.
    • Develop compelling and persuasive grant proposals that effectively articulate BMWM's needs, programs, impact, and financial stability.
    • Collaborate with program staff to gather necessary data, statistics, and success stories to support grant applications.
    • Ensure all grant proposals are accurate, complete, and submitted by established deadlines.
    • Maintain a grant tracking system to monitor application status, deadlines, and reporting requirements.
    • Assist with the preparation of grant reports and other required documentation, as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • Excellent writing, communication, and research skills are essential.
    • Proven experience in grant writing, with a track record of successful proposals (preferred, but not required for highly motivated candidates).
    • Familiarity with grant databases and online resources is a plus.
    • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines effectively, and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
    • Passion for BMWM's mission and a commitment to empowering at-risk youth.
    • A Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field is preferred, but relevant experience will be considered.

    Time Commitment:

    • Estimated 5-10 hours per week, with a flexible schedule to accommodate your availability. The position is primarily remote.
