Medina County Volunteer Delivery Driver with the Akron-Canton Foodbank

Basic volunteer duties involved with this assignment:

1. Pick-up 10 senior food boxes and 10 blocks of cheese from local food pantry.
2. Transport and deliver food boxes and cheese to the entry door of program participants residence. Drivers must have a cellphone equipped with GPS.
3. Maintain confidentiality regarding client information

Basic volunteer qualifications involved with this assignment:

Driver must be courteous, have a valid driver's license, and reliable transportation.

Who will be served by this assignment?

Seniors age 60 and over with income at or below 130% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines.

What is the anticipated benefit of this volunteer service to those receiving the service?

Volunteer service will allow homebound seniors who are unable to pick up a food box at a local food pantry the ability to participate in the program. Seniors will receive a monthly food box to improve their health by supplementing their diet with nutrient rich food.

What specific skills will the volunteer need?

Volunteer must be able to lift and carry 30-35 lbs. and physically able to carry food box to the program participants entry door.
