    Description

    Mariposa Arts Transportation Volunteer

    Schedule: 1-2 days a week (possibly more, if open to subbing), M-F, 3:30-4:15 pm (1:30-2 Fri)

    Location: Watsonville area

    Reports To: Arts Education Manager

    The job: The Transportation Volunteer supports the Arts Education Manager, Mariposa Arts Teaching Artist team and High School Student Teachers. Pick up Student Teachers at their high schools after school, and take them to their Mariposa Arts assignments in PVUSD Expanded Learning programs schools within PVUSD. Duties also include administrative support and communications surrounding driving student teachers to work. This position provides an integral part of the Mariposa Arts Program.

    Temporary part time position, 2 days per week, 1/2 hour each day (more, if subbing) for the duration of the school year, from March 2026 - June 2026 and from Sept 2026 - May 2027.

    Responsibilities

    • Prompt reliable communication and response via email, phone, text as needed.
    • Driving Mariposa Arts high school students to after school sites
    • Administrative support around transportation and schedule coordination
    • Develop and maintain good relationships with a diverse group of teachers, high school student teachers, administrative staff, and after-school site coordinators
    • Notify management of any changes in scheduling, contact information, etc.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    • Self-motivated and directed
    • Strong communication skills in person, via telephone and by email
    • Able to ask questions, share opinions, and disagree congenially
    • Current Drivers Licence, Insurance, and your own vehicle
    • Regular access to phone, email, and internet access
    • Some experience working with HS age youth
    • Background check, TB test, and other District needed clearance required

    Arts Council Santa Cruz County provides Arts Education opportunities to over 18,000 students

    across the county each year, through our SPECTRA, Artist Teachers Partnership, and Mariposa

    Arts programs. We provide these students with opportunities to engage in learning in a fun and

    holistic way, in and through the arts, where they are able to learn through seeing, doing, and

    being –making an enormous impact on the way they view themselves, their schools, and their

    Communities. Through our Mariposa Arts and SPECTRA programs, we serve approximately 5,000 students, annually.
