    Description

    World Disaster Center is a global initiative focused on advancing disaster resilience, humanitarian innovation, geospatial intelligence, and knowledge-sharing to support communities affected by disasters and crises.

    We are seeking a skilled volunteer to help organize, structure, and strengthen our digital knowledge presence and public documentation.

    Position Overview

    We are looking for a Digital Knowledge & Reputation Specialist with experience in Wikipedia, Wikidata, online knowledge management, and digital identity systems.

    The volunteer will support the development of a structured and credible online presence for World Disaster Center, its leadership, projects, publications, partnerships, and global impact.

    Key Responsibilities

    The volunteer will:

    1. Wikipedia & Knowledge Management
    • Conduct an assessment of Wikipedia readiness and notability requirements
    • Research and organize reliable third-party sources
    • Prepare properly structured biography and organizational content following Wikipedia guidelines
    • Support Wikipedia article development where appropriate
    • Ensure neutral, fact-based, citation-supported documentation
    1. Wikidata & Knowledge Graph Development
    • Create and optimize Wikidata entries
    • Structure information about:
      • World Disaster Center
      • Leadership profiles
      • Projects and initiatives
      • Publications
      • Awards and recognitions
      • Institutional partnerships
    • Improve discoverability through structured data
    1. Google Knowledge Panel Preparation
    • Improve consistency of online identity across platforms
    • Audit existing digital profiles and references
    • Identify missing information needed for stronger search visibility
    • Support the development of a recognized digital entity profile
    1. Research & Documentation
    • Build an organized archive of:
      • International awards
      • Global conferences and speeches
      • UN and international organization engagements
      • Publications and reports
      • Media mentions
      • Institutional collaborations
    • Create a reference database with links and citations
    1. Digital Strategy Recommendations

    Provide recommendations on:

    • Long-term online reputation management
    • Public information architecture
    • Institutional storytelling
    • Digital credibility building

    Required Qualifications

    Applicants should have experience in one or more of the following:

    • Wikipedia editing and guidelines
    • Wikidata management
    • Digital identity / Knowledge Graph optimization
    • Online research and fact-checking
    • Digital communications
    • Public relations or institutional communications
    • Biography or profile writing
    • Research documentation

    Preferred Experience

    Strong candidates may have experience with:

    • Wikipedia biographies of notable individuals
    • Nonprofit or institutional profiles
    • UN, academic, government, or international organization documentation
    • Open knowledge platforms
    • SEO/entity recognition strategies
