    Description

    Director of Development

    Position Summary

    H.AAPI is seeking a Director of Development to lead, execute, and develop the organization's comprehensive fundraising strategy to support its mission. In this role, you will oversee all development activities, including individual, major and corporate gifts, annual fundraising campaigns, grant development and management, corporate and foundation partnerships, donor stewardship, and special events. You will work closely with organizational leadership, volunteers, donors, and community partners to strengthen philanthropic support and expand funding opportunities.

    H.AAPI’s mission is to support the AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) community in thriving through networking, programs, resources, and tools. Our vision is to serve as a bridge for individuals across different stages of life, fields, interests, hobbies, and professional goals to engage, exchange information, and build meaningful connections through our events and programming.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive fundraising strategy that supports the organization's mission, strategic priorities, and annual revenue goals.
    • Lead all aspects of the organization's development program, including individual, major and corporate gifts, corporate sponsorships, foundation support, and special fundraising initiatives.
    • Identify relevant grant opportunities, write compelling proposals, and track deadlines, compliance, and reporting requirements.
    • Plan, coordinate, and oversee fundraising events, campaigns, and donor engagement activities
    • Maintain accurate donor records and fundraising data
    • Develop fundraising materials, donor communications, impact reports, and proposals in partnership with the Communications Department.
    • Represent the organization at community events and networking opportunities to increase visibility and cultivate new funding relationships.
    • Recruit, coordinate, and support volunteers and committee members participating in fundraising initiatives and special events.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the organization's mission and strategic objectives.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Interest in H.AAPI’s mission and commitment to supporting the AAPI community
    • Strong organizational, communication, and attention to detail skills
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team environment
    • Comfort using basic digital tools such as Microsoft Office, Zoom, and Teams, with willingness to learn new systems
    • Experience in fundraising, sales, marketing, community engagement, or partnership management.
    • Reliable access to a laptop and stable internet connection
    • Ability and willingness to travel within NYC for program support with advance notice

    Preferred:

    • Experience in development, nonprofit work, or startup environments
    • Experience working in team-based or community-focused settings
    • Experience in grant proposals

    Education

    Bachelor's degree in public administration, Education, Social Work, Communications, or a

    related field preferred.
