Hospice Volunteers provide a valuable service to Wings of Hope Hospice Program. As a member of the program, Hospice Volunteers provide services to individuals and families with terminal illness, and/or provide administrative support to the Hospice program.
Hospice Volunteer opportunities include;
- Patient support- Visit patients and provide companionship. Read to patients, assist with letter writing or perform other tasks to support the patient.
- Bereavement support-Visit with the bereaved in person or over the phone,
- Administrative support- copies and collates materials, assist with outgoing mailings, routine typing and assist with correspondence
- Veteran to Veteran volunteers- Pinning ceremonies, veteran volunteers offer camaraderie and compassionate care for fellow veterans.
- 11th hour volunteers- Trained non-clinical volunteers that offer emotional support to patients and caregivers in the last hours of life.
- Other services- Reiki, massage, pet therapy, art therapy, music therapy and more.
