    Description

    Hello,

My name is Alesa Smith, and I am the Volunteer Coordinator for Agape Hospice Care in Atlanta. We are excited to now be serving the Stockbridge area as well.

We are currently seeking companionship volunteers to spend time with our hospice patients in the Stockbridge and surrounding area.

Our volunteers do not provide hands-on medical care, and no medical background is required. We cover all training expenses — all that is truly needed is a compassionate heart. We ask volunteers to visit a patient in their local area for approximately one hour per week.

We are especially hoping to connect with:

    • College students in need of volunteer hours
    • Stay-at-home parents
    • Empty nesters and retirees
    • Veterans who would like to visit fellow veteran patients

Becoming a volunteer looks GREAT on a college application or resume. If this speaks to your heart, let's talk!

    Warmly,

    Alesa Smith

How to Volunteer for This Opportunity

    Send Email

Thank you so much for your interest in joining our hospice volunteer team!

Let me share a little bit about who we are and how we work. We are an in-home hospice care company, which means we visit patients wherever they call home—whether that’s a private residence, memory care facility, nursing home, or assisted living center. Please note that there is some travel involved.

We ask that you consider this volunteer opportunity thoughtfully before committing. Ideally, we ask volunteers to visit their assigned patient once per week for about an hour, though we can be flexible. The minimum commitment is twice per month.

To be considered as a volunteer, the following steps must be completed:

    1. Fill out a volunteer application.
    2. Sign a consent form for a background check (we cover the cost).
    3. Complete a TB test (two-step process): You’ll need to return for a follow-up to have your TB spot read. We offer this for free at our office.
    4. Complete 9 online training modules.
    5. Attend an in-person orientation.

Once all steps are completed, we’ll match you with a patient.

Please note: volunteers do not provide any hands-on medical care. Our role is to offer companionship and emotional support. You may assist with light household tasks, read with patients, watch TV together, play games, go for walks, color, or simply be present while a caregiver runs errands.

If this opportunity speaks to your heart, let’s set up a short interview to get to know each other better. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
