    About the Role

Friendship Place is seeking dedicated volunteers to serve as the first point of contact for participants, visitors, community partners, and guests arriving at our program offices. Seated at the reception area near the entrance to the Friendship Place suite, volunteers help create a welcoming, professional, and supportive environment while assisting visitors in connecting with the appropriate staff member or program.

This position supports several Friendship Place programs, including AimHire, Veterans First, and Neighbors First Families and Individuals.

As the first face people see when they enter our offices, Program Reception Volunteers play an important role in helping visitors feel welcomed, respected, and connected to the services they need.

    Responsibilities

    • Welcome visitors as they arrive at the Friendship Place suite
    • Assist guests in locating the appropriate staff member, office, or program
    • Notify staff when visitors arrive for appointments
    • Provide basic information and directions within the office suite
    • Help maintain a professional, organized, and welcoming reception area
    • Represent Friendship Place with warmth, professionalism, and respect

    Ideal Volunteer

We are seeking individuals who are friendly, dependable, organized, and comfortable interacting with a diverse range of people. Strong communication skills, reliability, and a welcoming presence are essential.

This role is best suited for someone who enjoys meeting people, providing customer service, and serving as a reliable support to staff and program participants.

    Commitment

Because this position serves as a consistent point of contact for our participants and visitors, we are especially interested in volunteers who can make a regular, recurring commitment.

This is not intended to be a one-time or occasional volunteer opportunity. Friendship Place is seeking volunteers who can serve on a consistent weekly basis and become familiar with our staff, programs, and office environment over time.

We understand that schedules change, but our ideal volunteer is someone interested in becoming a dependable and ongoing member of our volunteer team.

    Why Volunteer?

Every day, Friendship Place helps individuals, families, and veterans access housing, employment, and supportive services as they rebuild their lives after homelessness.

By serving as a Program Reception Volunteer, you help create a positive first impression for those seeking support. A warm greeting, a friendly face, and a welcoming presence can make a meaningful difference in someone's day and help ensure they are connected to the right resources and services.
