    Description

    Link Specialist Volunteer

    Overview of Position: Provide short-term support to CarePartners living with HIV from the TIHAN office. Specialize in advocacy, information and referral, and emotional/social support.

    Benefits to the Volunteer: A great opportunity to provide a response to the needs of several CarePartners on a weekly basis.

    Specific Tasks:

    1. Assist new CarePartners with completing the TIHAN registration form and provide them with an overview of TIHAN programs and services-in person, by phone and through welcome packets.

    Specialize in advocacy, information and referral, and emotional/social support.

    1. Inform CarePartners of how to navigate social services in the HIV community and connect them to resources they need by making appropriate referrals.
    2. Coordinate in-office pick-up or home delivery of CarePackages.
    3. Inform CarePartners about relevant educational/social events and help them enroll in any TIHAN classes and programs
    4. Triage emergency situations.
    5. Maintain communication logs in TIHAN’s online database.
    6. Attend occasional meetings of Link Specialists and Program Coordinator.

    Time Required: One 4-hour shift per week. Shifts are scheduled during TIHAN’s regular office hours of 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday.

    Qualifications/Experience:

    Required: Must be 18 years or older. Computer skills, including basic proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Attention to detail and ability to closely follow instructions. Comfortable interacting with people from diverse backgrounds.

    Preferred: Knowledge of local community resources. Bilingual (English/Spanish and English/French). Experience working with people living with HIV/AIDS.
