    Description

    The Heart of Art is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to using the performing arts as a gateway to foster literacy, education, creativity, and community building. We empower children and youth through programs that combine the magic of storytelling with the transformative power of the arts.

    The Community Engagement Liaison plays a vital role in expanding The Heart of Art’s reach by cultivating and sustaining meaningful relationships with schools, libraries, community organizations, and local partners.

    Working closely with the Chair of Community Engagement & Partnerships, this role ensures that The Heart of Art is not only present in the community, but trusted, visible, and deeply connected.

    Purpose of the Role

    At The Heart of Art, access is everything. The Community Engagement Liaison ensures that our programs are not just created, but placed where they are needed most and embraced by the communities we serve.

    This role exists to:

    • Build and maintain strong, mission-aligned partnerships
    • Expand access to programming across schools, libraries, and community organizations
    • Serve as a bridge between HOA and community stakeholders
    • Support outreach, recruitment, and relationship-building efforts

    Key Responsibilities

    Partnership Development & Relationship Building

    • Identify and cultivate partnerships with:
      • Schools and school districts
      • Libraries and literacy organizations
      • Community centers and youth-serving organizations
      • Local nonprofits and arts organizations
    • Initiate and maintain consistent communication with partners
    • Build trust-based relationships that support long-term collaboration

    Program Placement & Expansion

    • Support the identification of program sites and opportunities for Get Lit and Stay Lit
    • Collaborate with internal leadership to align programming with community needs
    • Assist in coordinating logistics for program implementation at partner sites

    Community Outreach & Visibility

    • Represent The Heart of Art at community events, meetings, and networking opportunities
    • Support outreach efforts to increase awareness of programs and services
    • Help position HOA as a trusted and visible presence within the community

    Student & Family Engagement

    • Support recruitment efforts by connecting with:
      • Families
      • Educators
      • Community leaders
    • Ensure communication is clear, welcoming, and accessible to diverse audiences

    Collaboration with Internal Leadership

    • Work closely with the Chair of Community Engagement & Partnerships to:
      • Align outreach strategies
      • Track partnership progress
      • Identify new opportunities for growth
    • Provide updates and insights on community needs, feedback, and trends

    Data & Relationship Tracking

    • Maintain organized records of:
      • Partner organizations
      • Outreach efforts
      • Engagement outcomes
    • Support the development of a partnership pipeline and tracking system

    Ideal Candidate Profile

    • Background in one or more of the following:
      • Community engagement
      • Partnership development
      • Nonprofit outreach
      • Education or youth programming
    • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
    • Deep understanding of or connection to the communities being served
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating with leadership
    • Passion for youth development, literacy, and the arts
