What is Forest Therapy & Why Techno-Forest Innovation Intern (Health-Tech, AI & VR) ? Why Forest Therapy Nepal ( FTN) ? Why Nepal ?
Forest Therapy is an evidence-based Public health practice. Guided Forest Therapy walks combine a specific blend of complementary physical and mental exercises in suitable forest surroundings leading to a lower heart beat, blood pressure and stress levels while, at the same time, the immune system, breathing and the overall physical and mental fitness and wellbeing are strengthened.
Forest Therapy Nepal (FTN) represents a strategic imperative to bridge the gap between Nepal’s untapped natural capital and the global public health crisis. We move beyond traditional forestry to establish a sophisticated ecosystem of healing.
Vision: Healing Humanity, Prospering Nepal.
Mission: To establish Nepal’s first Public Limited Company that transforms the nation’s 46% forest cover into a "Global Natural Hospital" through an integrated Public-Private-Community Partnership (PPCP) model, merging evidence-based Forest Medicine with advanced technology and sustainable entrepreneurship.
Forest Therapy Nepal (FTN), an emerging Public Limited Company, is pioneering the capitalization of Nepal’s rich forest resources as a "Global Natural Hospital." Our vision is simple yet profound: Healing Humanity, Prospering Nepal. In collaboration with Turkey Berry Nepal (TBN), we are integrating scientifically proven Shinrin-yoku (Forest Bathing) protocols with local medicinal flora to create world-class wellness experiences.
We operate on a Public-Private-Community Partnership (PPCP) model, ensuring that the socio-economic benefits of our natural resources are equitably distributed among local communities while promoting global mental and physical health.
Nature and technology do not have to be at odds. The Techno-Forest pillar is our dedicated tech hub, designed to bridge the gap between ancient natural healing and modern digital innovation. We are building the technological infrastructure to quantify the health benefits of Forest Therapy and make it accessible to those who cannot physically visit the woods.
We are looking for visionary tech interns to help us build out two core innovations:
As a Techno-Forest Innovation Intern, you will work directly with our visionary leadership team. Your responsibilities may include:
The modern world is facing an epidemic of "Karoshi" (death from overwork) and pervasive "Techno-stress." As urban populations spend 99.99% of their evolutionary history in nature but now inhabit artificial environments, the resulting "Nature Deficit Disorder" requires a systemic cure.
FTN’s value proposition lies in Resource Capitalization: transitioning forests from low-value timber resources to high-value health infrastructure. Nepal’s unique biodiversity offers a "Global Natural Hospital" where the forest itself—not concrete buildings—is the primary infrastructure. This model allows for high-margin wellness services with minimal capital expenditure, positioning Nepal as the ultimate antidote to the global mental health crisis.
The Five-Pillar Strategic Framework
This pillar repurposes technology to solve the "Techno-stress" it created. We integrate AI-driven health monitoring to provide participants with real-time physiological feedback and VR forest experiences for clinical outreach.
We move beyond timber extraction to the high-value sector of Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs). This involves the scientific study of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)—specifically the high concentrations of Alpha-pinene found in Nepalese Pine and Rhododendron—and the commercialization of Turkey Berry as a potent health supplement.
FTN differentiates itself by replacing "Adventure Tourism" (low-margin) with "Scientific Shinrin-yoku" (high-margin). We develop healing trails and mud-house retreats designed for slow, sensory-based immersion rather than traditional, high-impact trekking or jungle walks.
Under the guidance of "Forest Medicine"—a discipline pioneered by experts like Dr. Qing Li—this pillar provides clinical oversight for stress and rehabilitation protocols. It addresses the current educational vacuum in Nepal by creating formal career paths for medical professionals within the forestry sector.
Our foundation is the 22,000+ Community Forest User Groups (CFUGs). By utilizing a PPCP model, we ensure that the wealth generated from "Ecosystem Services" stays within the community, providing a scalable, equitable economic engine.
Phytoncide Efficacy
Phytoncides are antimicrobial Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) emitted by trees. Inhaling these bioactive substances—particularly Alpha-pinene in Nepal’s high-altitude forests—triggers a physiological cascade:
The "Bio-Capital" pillar acts as the core engine for product development and tangible revenue generation through the commercialization of natural forest resources. This pillar plays several crucial roles in the Forest Therapy Nepal (FTN) business model:
By merging scientific discovery with commercial product development, the Bio-Capital pillar provides investors with a scalable, physical revenue stream that complements FTN's service-based eco-hospitality offerings.
