The Mission
At NICST and Dogs4Diabetics, our service dogs aren't just companions—they are life-saving partners. We are looking for a proactive, outgoing Outreach Coordinator to help us share our story with the world, find new supporters, and ensure our organization has a seat at the table at community events, health fairs, and conferences.
The Role
As the Outreach Coordinator, you are our "Boots on the Ground" brand ambassador. You won't just wait for an invitation; you will actively seek out opportunities for NICST to be present in the community. You will handle the logistics of getting us there and work closely with our Volunteer Coordinator to ensure every event is staffed with passionate representatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Opportunity Hunting: Proactively research and identify community events, corporate wellness fairs, disability seminars, and local festivals where NICST should have a presence.
- Event Logistics & Transport: Manage the "leg work" for registrations and booth requirements. This includes transporting event kits (banners, brochures, swag) and occasionally assisting with the transport of service dogs in training to and from events.
- On-Site Representation: Attend outreach events to set up displays, interact with the public, and share the impact of our service dog programs.
- Collaboration: Partner with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and schedule volunteers to help man the booths.
- Relationship Building: Follow up with event organizers and new contacts to foster long-term community partnerships.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Reliable Transportation: Must have access to a reliable personal vehicle capable of transporting event materials (tables, tents, bins) and safely accommodating service dogs.
- Valid Driver’s License: A clean driving record and valid license are required.
- A Go-Getter Attitude: You don’t wait for instructions; you see an opportunity and chase it down.
- Highly Organized: You can manage a calendar of multiple events and keep track of various deadlines.
- Excellent Communicator: Comfortable speaking to strangers and explaining our mission with clarity and passion.
Why Join Us?
- Be the Face of Change: Your work directly leads to more funding, more volunteers, and more life-saving dogs placed with those in need.
- Networking: Connect with community leaders, healthcare professionals, and other nonprofit organizers.
Flexible Hybrid Schedule: Most research and planning can be done from home, with the excitement of live events on the weekends or evenings.
