    Description

Grant Research & Fundraising Support Volunteer – Swahili Community (NYTC)

About the New York Tanzanian Community (NYTC)

The New York Tanzanian Community (NYTC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Tanzanian and broader African immigrant communities across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. NYTC exists to strengthen community connection, preserve cultural identity, and expand access to resources that promote economic stability, civic engagement, and overall well-being for immigrant individuals and families.

NYTC’s work is rooted in the belief that strong communities thrive when people feel connected, informed, and supported. Many immigrants face barriers to information, services, and opportunity, and NYTC works to bridge those gaps by fostering collaboration, advocacy, and community-led initiatives that build trust and long-term resilience.

The organization advances its mission through community engagement, partnerships, informational resources, and volunteer-led efforts designed to strengthen support systems and create pathways for opportunity across the region.

    Role Overview

NYTC is seeking a Grant Research & Fundraising Support Volunteer to help identify funding opportunities that align with the organization’s mission and community-focused work. This role plays an important part in supporting NYTC’s ability to sustain and expand its programs by helping to build a strong pipeline of potential funding sources.

NYTC is currently developing and strengthening community-centered initiatives focused on immigrant support services, community engagement, cultural programming, youth and family support, and access to educational and economic resources. As these programs continue to take shape, this role will support the organization’s efforts to identify funding opportunities that align with these priority areas and long-term community impact.
