    Description

    There are no happy cats without happy volunteers! Happy Cats Haven is seeking friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to join our coffee shop team as Purristas. Combine your love of coffee, cats, and community while supporting our no-kill mission and earning valuable retail experience!

    About the Role:

    As a Purrista volunteer, you'll be the welcoming face of our coffee shop, serving delicious beverages while helping visitors connect with our shelter to find home to more adoptable cats. You'll create a warm, inviting atmosphere where coffee lovers and cat lovers come together to support animal welfare.

    Responsibilities:

    • Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages (we can train you!)
    • Provide friendly counter service to guests
    • Handle sales of individually wrapped snacks (cookies, ice cream, etc.)
    • Manage retail sales (handcrafted items, cat-themed merchandise, jewelry, cards, etc.)
    • Maintain a clean, organized coffee shop and retail area
    • Process transactions and handle cash/card payments in Square (we can train you!)
    • Share information about Happy Cats Haven's mission and adoptable cats with visitors
    • Create a welcoming environment that encourages guests to engage with our non-profit

    Preferred Skills (bonus but not necessary):

    • Previous barista or food service experience
    • Retail or cash handling experience
    • Knowledge of coffee preparation
    • Sales experience

    We Love Our Happy Cats Volunteers! Basic Requirements:

    • Attend an orientation
    • Pay a $10 (minimum) registration fee
    • Be 18 years old or older
    • Can commit to 8 hours of service per month
    • Can commit to scheduled volunteer times
    • Be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
    • Be able to work independently with limited supervision (after training)
    • Friendly, outgoing personality with excellent customer service skills
    • Comfortable handling money and processing transactions
    • Reliable and punctual

    2. Attend an orientation scheduled by the Volunteer Manager.
    3. Attend a training session once you have chosen a volunteer position.
    4. Keep coming back to love on the cats!
