    ESL/ELL Beginning English Program Facilitator

    Do you like engaging with new people, while discovering mutual interests, similarities, and differences? The Vineland Library is looking for friendly people who are interested in actively encouraging and assisting conversation among new English language learners.

    How You Will Make a Difference

    Conversation Club Facilitators play a pivotal role in helping English language learners gain language skills and confidence in a welcoming and respectful environment.

    Volunteers are needed to:

    • Facilitate interactive sessions open to English language learners with limited English skills
    • Help adults gain English literacy skills, including but not limited to pronunciation, grammar, and idioms, while sharing anecdotes about U.S. culture, customs, and history
    • Plan and deliver English lessons either as a class series or independent programs
    • Have basic skills for conducting meetings with SJPL staff support

    Commitment/Schedule

    Willingness to volunteer at least once a week for a 6-month duration. Program will be held Thursdays from 10:15-11:45am (program is 10:30-11:30am)

    Prospective volunteers should:

    • Be comfortable working with groups of English learners in a group setting
    • Be dependable, punctual, and responsible
    • Complete a fingerprint background check, at no cost to you. Required for all volunteers 18 years or older
