Volunteer Opportunity: Grief Support Group Facilitators

Oasis Hospice is seeking compassionate and qualified volunteers to help lead our Grief & Loss Support Groups as part of our bereavement program.

This is a meaningful opportunity to support individuals and families navigating the difficult journey of loss by providing a safe, supportive, and understanding environment.

Position Overview:

Volunteers will assist in facilitating a monthly grief support group (virtual) that last one hour, helping guide conversations, offering emotional support, and ensuring participants feel heard and respected.

Who We’re Looking For:

We are specifically seeking individuals with experience or training in supporting others through grief, including:

• Licensed counselors or therapists
• Social workers
• Religious or spiritual leaders (pastors, ministers, chaplains, etc.)
• Bereavement specialists
• Individuals with relevant professional or volunteer experience in grief support

Volunteer Responsibilities:

• Help facilitate structured group discussions
• Provide compassionate listening and emotional support
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and confidential environment
• Collaborate with hospice staff on group planning and follow-up
• Commit to attending scheduled monthly sessions

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in counseling, ministry, social work, or related field
• Experience working with individuals experiencing grief or loss
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to maintain boundaries and confidentiality
• Comfort with virtual platforms (if facilitating online groups)
