LoopRoots Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting justice-impacted individuals and families by removing barriers to access, dignity, and opportunity. Our work focuses on transportation access, essential resources, and technology-driven solutions that strengthen reentry, family connection, and long-term stability.

    Position Summary

We are seeking a mission-driven Mobile App Developer to support the development of our rideshare and transportation-access mobile application. This role will focus on coding and building the core mobile app functionality that powers rider and driver experiences.

This position is volunteer-based during development, with the intention to transition into a paid role after product launch and funding activation.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and maintain the mobile rideshare application (rider and driver flows)
    • Write and maintain mobile app code for iOS and Android (native or cross-platform)
    • Build core rideshare features such as trip requests, routing, notifications, and in-app communication
    • Integrate APIs, mapping services, and backend systems
    • Collaborate with UI/UX designers and product leads
    • Ensure app performance, security, and scalability
    • Troubleshoot issues and contribute to continuous improvements

    Required Qualifications

    • Experience building mobile applications (React Native, Flutter, Swift, Kotlin, or similar)
    • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and backend integration
    • Experience with geolocation or location-based services
    • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
    • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with rideshare, logistics, or transportation platforms
    • Familiarity with accessibility best practices
    • Experience with secure authentication and user data protection
    • Interest in social impact or nonprofit technology work

    Compensation

This is a volunteer position during development.

The role is expected to transition to a paid position after launch, contingent on funding and organizational growth.
