    Description

    Hutchinson Public Library's Summer Celebration draws hundreds of children to the library, and helps introduce them to the library's summer reading program. Studies have shown that children who continue to read during summer vacation have a head start when school begins again in the Fall. Summer Celebration volunteers help to make this an enjoyable experience, and show that the library can be a fun place to visit.

    Duties:

    Help run games and activities during the Celebration. Most events are held outside on the library's West parking lot in the sun and on concrete. Chairs provided upon request before event begins.

    Qualifications:

    Must enjoy working with children. May require standing the majority of the time, bending to retrieve items, lifting up to 10 lbs., and being in the sun.

    Day Volunteer Needed:

    Friday, June 5, 2026 (will be cancelled if it rains)

    Time Needed:

    8:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. (celebration is 9:00 - 11:30) There will be a quick orientation for all volunteers at 8:30 a.m.
