95 Counties is seeking a volunteer Marketing & Outreach Coordinator to help promote our upcoming virtual event, Finding Ambrose (Part 2): Through the Eyes of the Enslaved, taking place on June 30 as part of our America's 250th Anniversary programming.

This volunteer will play an important role in helping us expand awareness of the event, increase attendance, and connect with audiences interested in history, genealogy, education, preservation, and community engagement.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist with promoting the event across social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok
    • Share event information with relevant community groups, historical organizations, genealogy societies, educational institutions, and civic organizations
    • Help identify media outlets, podcasts, newsletters, and community calendars where the event can be featured
    • Assist with drafting and scheduling social media posts
    • Help distribute press releases and event announcements
    • Track outreach efforts and identify opportunities to increase event visibility
    • Encourage registrations through community engagement and digital outreach

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Strong written communication skills
    • Experience with social media marketing or community outreach
    • Interest in history, genealogy, preservation, education, or nonprofit work
    • Organized, dependable, and able to work independently
    • Familiarity with Canva, social media scheduling tools, or email marketing platforms is a plus, but not required

    Time Commitment

Flexible. Approximately 2 to 5 hours per week through the event date of June 30.

    About the Event

Finding Ambrose (Part 2): Through the Eyes of the Enslaved explores the life of Ambrose Grundy, an enslaved Tennessean whose story offers a unique perspective on American history, genealogy, and the experiences of the enslaved during the nation's formative years. The presentation is part of 95 Counties' efforts to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States by examining history through often overlooked voices and experiences.
