    Description

Guardian ad Litem Volunteer, Mentor or Pro Bono Attorney

For more than 30 years, the Florida Guardian ad Litem Office has exclusively represented children in the court system. This multidisciplinary team includes a Guardian ad Litem Attorney, Certified Child Advocate Manager and a trained Guardian ad Litem volunteer (if one is available), and through the collaboration of our team we are able to provide quality legal representation for abused, abandoned , and neglected children while assisting the child in expressing their needs and wishes. Our unique approach allows us to support the whole child, addressing their physical, educational, mental, emotional, social, and legal needs.

The Florida Guardian ad Litem Office is committed to actively recruiting volunteers to provide support and representation for children in the Dependency Court system.

When a child is removed from their home, the judge stands in the parent’s shoes and has a duty to protect them. Guardian ad Litem representation is an integral part of the child’s protection. When a judge appoints the Florida Guardian ad Litem Office to an abused, neglected, or abandoned child, the child gets:

The benefit of a MULTI-DISCIPLINARY TEAM that includes a Guardian ad Litem attorney, a Certified Child Advocate Manager certified by the Florida Board of Certification and a trained Guardian ad Litem volunteer (if one is available).

    • REPRESENTATION of the child’s legal interests.
    • SUPPORT from a trained Guardian ad Litem volunteer who is often the only safe and stable adult throughout the child’s case.
    • A link to the child’s COMMUNITY and support from the Guardian ad Litem public-private partnerships.

In Hillsborough County there are more than 1500 children who are currently in the Dependency System. If you have been considering ways that you could give back to your community then we would love to speak with you about our volunteer opportunity.

Information Sessions are held weekly via Zoom. Once we receive your inquiry we will provide you with the Zoom log in information.

To learn more please call 813-272-5110 - Training classes are held monthly.
