    ABOUT PFLAG LOS ANGELES

PFLAG Los Angeles is a volunteer-powered nonprofit dedicated to creating a caring, just, and affirming world for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them. Our work focuses on three pillars: education, advocacy, and support. We invite you to join us in building a safer, more inclusive world for all. Learn more at www.pflagla.org.

    ABOUT THE POSITION

The Fundraising Chair designs and leads PFLAG LA’s fundraising strategy, including 1-2 fundraising campaigns or events a year. As an all-volunteer chapter with no paid staff, our near-term goal is to grow annual giving meaningfully from a small base.

At a glance: Volunteer board role · 2-5 hours/week · 1-2 year term · Mostly remote, with occasional in-person events in LA · Works with the Treasurer, President, Vice President, and Donor Manager, and can recruit fundraising committee volunteers

    Responsibilities

    • Set fundraising strategy and work with the Treasurer and President on goals, messaging, and progress against targets, and ensure alignment with PFLAG LA’s mission, values, and budget needs.
    • Cultivate donors and sponsors, and coordinate outreach with board members and volunteers.
    • Plan and run 1-2 fundraising campaigns and events per year, including online giving and donor appeals.
    • Strengthen donor stewardship and reporting, and train volunteers to help.

    Qualifications

    • Fundraising experience, including donor cultivation and stewardship.
    • Comfort setting goals, tracking performance, and working within a budget.
    • Strong storytelling and donor communication.
    • Ability to work with a volunteer board and diverse community partners.
    • Commitment to LGBTQ+ equality and culturally competent engagement with families.
    • Prior nonprofit fundraising, board service, or community organizing experience is highly beneficial; familiarity with the Los Angeles philanthropic landscape is a plus.

If you’re passionate about our mission but don’t meet every qualification, we still want to hear from you. We value diverse experiences and perspectives, which strengthen our organization, so please don’t hesitate to apply!
