HR DIRECTOR

Greetings. OUR NATIONAL CONVERSATION is a 501c3, nonpartisan media outlet largely run by student interns (mostly college; some high school; some grad school). Our goal is to reduce toxic partisanship and get America talking again, with a focus on solutions, not finger-pointing.

Our students write articles, host podcasts and produce social media posts. We're about to launch an e-newsletter. You can find us at OurNationalConversation.org.

A big part of our mission is to train America's future leaders by given them hands-on experience that far surpasses that gained in a typical internship. We give our students meaningful assignments and expect them to produce. But students aren't perfect; they are busy with school, jobs and their personal lives. They definitely need guidance and supervision from older, more experienced mentors.

Also, turnover is a fact of life with students. Every semester, we see big turnover. Our HR department is the team that makes it all work. Our HR department manages the recruitment, the onboarding, the paperwork, etc. We need more "adult supervision" to keep things on track.

It's possible the HR Director is our most important role, because every department needs HR's help.

Care about America's future? Consider joining us as HR Director. I think 4-8 hours a week will be required. More hours would be even better, but I don't want to scare you away. You will get excellent experience here, because you'll be asked to do it all. Our student HR team members have done quite well in the job market; maybe time spent with ONC will help propel you forward, as well.

We know lack of pay is an issue. We are gearing up to raise money and, if we're successful, you will go on payroll. Help us build a stronger fundraising department so we can expedite that process!
