Community Outreach/Tabling Volunteer for Nonprofit for Survivors (Chicago, IL)

&Rise is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women and survivors of trauma. Our mission is to empower women and girls to be the ultimate versions of themselves despite their adversities. We offer free counseling, support groups, financial literacy workshops, and our youth programs. We are a community-led organization that believes in the power of "rising" above adversity through support, education, and connection.

The Role: Why We Need You

As an Outreach & Tabling Volunteer, you are the first point of connection between &Rise and the community. You will represent our organization at community health fairs, local festivals, schools, and partner events across Chicago/Chicagoland. Your goal is to raise awareness, share our resources with survivors who need them, and engage potential donors and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities

• Event Set-Up & Teardown: Transporting tabling materials (table, chairs, tablecloths, banners, flyers, and brochures) to and from event locations.
• Community Engagement: Actively standing and greeting attendees. You won't just sit behind a table—you’ll be inviting strangers into a conversation about our mission.
• Resource Sharing: Answering questions about &Rise’s programs (Support Groups, Counseling, Youth programs) and helping individuals find the right resources.
• Lead Collection: Encouraging interested individuals to sign up for our newsletter or follow us on social media to stay connected.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Communication Skills: You must be outgoing, empathetic, and comfortable talking to strangers about sensitive topics (trauma-informed training will be provided).
• Physical Stamina: This role requires the ability to stand for 2–4 hours at a time and lift/carry tabling supplies (approx. 20 lbs).
• Reliable Transportation: Must have a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license to travel to various sites throughout Chicago.
• Professionalism: You represent &Rise; we look for volunteers who are punctual, reliable, and passionate about women's empowerment.
• Commitment: Willingness to volunteer at least 1-2 events per month (times vary, weekends will be needed occasionally.
