    Description

SERA2030 Environmental Research & Community Volunteering – Biodiversity, Moringa Carbon-Sink & Green Economy Activities

    Summary

Join a growing climate-action movement in Kigamboni! At APAO Village, SERA2030 restores land through family-led Moringa reforestation and biodiversity research. This work matters because planting 4 million Moringa trees by 2030 will capture carbon, protect ecosystems, and strengthen community livelihoods. Volunteers help document species, monitor Moringa carbon sinks, support family planting activities, create environmental content, and drive community education and green-economy initiatives.

    Activities: https://www.apaovillages.com/asiliyetu

    1. Biodiversity Documentation: Collect plant photos (trees, herbs, flowers, medicinal plants, fruit trees etc) for our Botanic Garden and upload observations to iNaturalist. https://www.inaturalist.org/people/sera2030
    2. Moringa Carbon-Sink Monitoring: Measure height, circumference, and canopy growth of 20 or more tagged Moringa trees (CSM01–CSM20) to demonstrate our carbon sequestration monitoring dataset.
    3. Reforestation & Community Outreach: Support seedling and cuttings distribution, family planting activities, storytelling, and community mobilization. https://www.instagram.com/apao_lifestyle
    4. Moringa Powder & Green Economy Demo: Participate in harvesting, drying, grinding, packaging, and learning how Moringa supports climate resilience and family income.
    5. Content, Research & Project Support: Help with social media content, grant writing, fund raising, event organization, and environmental education for kids, youth and women.
