    Description

Hospice care is a type of treatment that focuses on aggressive symptom management for patients who are battling a terminal illness. SilverStone offers a team that supports the efforts of families and caregivers to help patients receive a higher quality of life. Hospice doesn’t mean giving up, and it doesn’t mean giving up hope.

Our volunteer team spends time with terminally ill patients. You will share in enjoyable activities such as reading, talking, engaging in favorite patient hobbies to bring normalcy and relief into the home. Our volunteer team also provides relief to the family so they can be rejuvenated as a caregiver, go shopping, or keep doctor appointments while their loved one has companionship from a volunteer. Our volunteers often become the highlight of the day when arriving to visit the family/ patient. Volunteers can be placed in patient's home or at senior community.

Training and orientation are provided for this opportunity. For more information, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at 214-954-7285 or caroline.olberding@silverstonehospice.com
