    Video Content Creator Volunteer - [East Africa]

    Every day across Africa, important stories about governance, public services, and accountability are unfolding. This is an opportunity to use your creativity to help tell those stories in ways that resonate with young people in your region.

    Open Gov Africa is looking for youth volunteers across Africa who can create short-form digital content about governance, civic data, and public transparency in ways that resonate with young people in their region.

    If you enjoy creating short videos, reels, visual explainers, or social media content about issues that matter in your community, we encourage you to apply below. We want creatives who can help translate complex civic topics into relatable, engaging, and visually compelling content.

    This includes:

    • Short videos
    • Reels / TikTok-style content
    • Simple explanatory videos
    • Visual explainers or graphics

    Volunteers will help highlight local governance issues and civic stories from their region, making them easier for young people to understand and engage with.

    What Volunteers Will Do

    • Create short videos or reels explaining civic issues
    • Produce relatable youth-focused social media content
    • Design simple graphics or visual explainers
    • Help translate complex governance topics into clear and engaging content
    • Highlight local governance issues or stories from your country or region

    Ideal Candidates

    We are looking for volunteers who:

    • Are based in Africa
    • Are interested in governance, transparency, or civic technology
    • Enjoy storytelling through video or visuals
    • Are comfortable using tools such as:
      • CapCut
      • Canva
      • Adobe tools
      • Mobile video editing apps

    Bonus Skills (not required):

    • Graphic design
    • Motion graphics
    • Animation
    • Journalism or storytelling
    • Creating content in local languages

    What Volunteers Gain
