    Description

    The purpose of this role is to treat the patient from a holistic point of view, always maintaining the patient’s dignity and showing respect to them and their family/community. Our diverse team of volunteers place a high value on providing access to quality care to communities that face barriers to such care.

    As a Medical or Specialty Care Provider, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Create a welcoming environment and safe space for patients.
    • Conduct physical exams.
    • Order and interpret medically necessary lab tests and imaging.
    • Prescribe appropriate medications. No controlled substances.
    • Prescribe evidence-based treatment plans with the help of the healthcare team.
    • Coordinate referrals for specialty care.
    • Provide education on disease prevention, processes and treatment plans to patients.
    • Discuss care plan with patient, explain tests ordered and test results.
    • Explain medications and side effects to patients, family members and caregivers.
    • Accurately note patient medical history, diagnosis and SOAP notes into medical record in a timely fashion.
    • Liaise with other staff and volunteers to ensure high quality patient care.
    • Have fun in the process!

    SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Education: Graduate from an accredited medical school, physician assistant program, nurse practitioner program or naturopathic school. Licensed and board certified.
    • Experience: Recent, within 5 years, experience in primary care and/or specialty field.
    • Proficiencies: Ability to work with people from many different backgrounds, good interpersonal skills, ability to work on a computer.
    • Abilities: Dependable, able to take initiative

    TRAINING PROVIDED: We will provide training on our Electronic Health Record system.
