About Learn Fresh

Learn Fresh is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering students with essential STEM skills that will equip them for success in a global economy. By leveraging students' passion for sports and entertainment, Learn Fresh programs inspire leadership, academic growth, and career exploration across industries. Our programs serve as an early intervention in career pipelines, preparing students for a future where STEM proficiency and problem-solving abilities are key to success.

Through engaging, fun, and impactful learning experiences, Learn Fresh programs like NBA Math Hoops, MLB Players STEM League, MLS STEM Goals, and EcoTour help students develop critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership skills. To date, we have reached over 1.5 million students across the US and internationally, making a lasting impact on their academics and personal growth.

Learn Fresh partners with over 30 professional sports organizations to create an authentic and immersive experience for our students. Our flagship program, NBA Math Hoops, is a comprehensive community program, digital and physical board games, mobile app, and classroom curriculum. The program develops students’ algebra readiness prior to entering high school, while strengthening important skills including self-regulation and executive function. Students who complete the program demonstrate a 30 percent increase in math achievement over their peers in a traditional math curriculum and an overwhelming 93 percent of educators report that their students now find math to be more accessible, relevant, and engaging! MLB Players STEM League is a baseball-inspired program for middle-school age youth.The program brings to life the energy of the sport through a board game and curriculum that cultivate students’ math and executive function skills. In 2024, Learn Fresh launched two new programs: MLS STEM Goals and EcoTour. MLS STEM Goals integrates customizable, grade-aligned STEM content, along with real MLS team statistics, into a soccer-themed board game and community program. EcoTour features an engaging physical game and curriculum designed to enhance students' environmental and financial literacy skills.

As a member, you will play a pivotal role in expanding awareness of Learn Fresh and its programs internationally. The Advisory Council collaborates to foster strategic connections, host high-impact networking and donor events, and drive philanthropic initiatives that support the organization's long-term sustainability.

Purpose of the Advisory Council

The Learn Fresh Advisory Council is composed of experienced professionals who are passionate about leveraging students’ love of sports and entertainment to ignite their STEM learning and cultivate essential life skills such as teamwork, resilience, and leadership. Members serve as strategic ambassadors, helping to elevate Learn Fresh’s mission through thought leadership, mentorship, and advocacy. By leveraging their networks, industry expertise, and fundraising expertise, Advisory Council members provide critical support to fuel Learn Fresh’s growth and impact.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates are established professionals who:

• Are dedicated to Learn Fresh’s mission and values
• Possess strong leadership, strategic thinking, and relationship-building skills
• Have experience with fundraising, partnership development, or nonprofit advocacy
• Are eager to actively engage in promoting Learn Fresh and its initiatives

Responsibilities

• Serve a two-year term.
• Serve as a thought leader and strategic advisor to Learn Fresh staff and Executive Board
• Dedicate at least 10 hours per year to Council activities, including fundraising, mentorship, and/or event participation
• Host or support at least one networking or donor engagement events annually
• Introduce and cultivate relationships with at least five potential donors or strategic partners
• Make a philanthropic give/get commitment of $2,500 dollars annually in support of Learn Fresh.
