Fundraising Manager (Volunteer)
Organization: A Free Bird | 501(c)(3) Nonprofit
Location: Remote
Position Type: Unpaid role
Commitment: 10-15 hours per week | Minimum 6-month commitment

A Free Bird is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering children diagnosed with cancer through artistic expression. Through programs in art, music, writing, and more, we provide children with a creative outlet to support healing, confidence, and self-expression.
Position Overview
The Fundraising Manager plays a vital role in supporting the organization’s growth and sustainability by managing donor relationships, coordinating fundraising efforts, and maintaining donor communications.
This role involves working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to strengthen donor engagement, support fundraising campaigns, and ensure consistent communication with sponsors and contributors.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, update, and maintain donor and sponsor databases
- Communicate regularly with donors, sponsors, and strategic partners via email, phone, and other channels
- Coordinate outreach efforts to engage current and prospective donors
- Ensure timely acknowledgment of donations, including sending thank-you letters and receipts in accordance with organizational policies
- Support the planning and execution of fundraising initiatives and events (virtual and remote)
- Collaborate with team members to develop fundraising materials such as newsletters, brochures, reports, and campaign content
- Track donor engagement and contributions to support reporting and relationship management
- Assist in identifying new fundraising opportunities and strategies to increase support
Qualifications
- 1–2+ years of experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, communications, or a related field
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with donors and stakeholders
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
- Experience with donor databases, CRM systems, or outreach tools is a plus

Commitment Expectations:
To help our teams collaborate effectively, all volunteers are expected to:
- Commit at least 6 months
- Contribute approximately 5-10 hours per week
- Attend our 30-minute virtual team meetings every Tuesday and Thursday
- Communicate proactively and work collaboratively with fellow volunteers
