Kitchen Support Volunteer
Overview / Purpose
The Kitchen Support Volunteer assists staff in preparing and maintaining a clean and organized dining environment during breakfast and lunch service. This role helps ensure members receive meals smoothly and that the dining area remains sanitary and welcoming.
Impact
By assisting with meal service and cleanup, volunteers help staff focus on supporting members and create a pleasant dining experience for individuals living with dementia.
Time Commitment
- Typically 2–4 hours per shift
- Weekly or scheduled volunteer days
- Ongoing or semester-based for interns
Specific Tasks
- Assist with breakfast and lunch setup (plates, utensils, napkins)
- Help serve meals if needed
- Clear tables after meals
- Wash, rinse, and load dishes in sanitizer. Dry and put away when done
- Wipe dining tables and counters with disinfectant
- Maintain cleanliness in dining areas, sweep as needed
- Put Leftover food away. Throw out food over 3 days old from the fridge.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years old (or according to organization policy)
- Ability to follow sanitation guidelines
- Comfortable working in a kitchen environment
