Support Sport for Peace & Development

Support Sport for Peace & Development in Kakuma Refugee Camp and Kalobeyei Settlement

The Sport for Peace Coalition (SPC), made up of 6 Community-Based Organizations working in Kakuma Refugee Camp and Kalobeyei Settlement, is seeking international volunteers passionate about using sport as a tool for peace, empowerment, and community transformation.

As we prepare for various community sports initiatives, including the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) on 6 April 2026, we warmly invite volunteers from around the world to join us in building skills, strengthening teamwork, and promoting peaceful coexistence among youth from diverse backgrounds.

    Areas Where Volunteers Can Contribute

We welcome volunteers with experience, certification, or passion in any of the following eight sports disciplines: Football, Dodgeball, Baseball5, Basketball, Volleyball, Acrobatics, Marathon (Running & Athletics) and Yoga

    What Volunteers Can Do

International volunteers can support SPC by:

      • Offering training sessions, workshops, and capacity-building for youth and local coaches
      • Supporting the development of coaching methods and safe-play practices
      • Sharing expertise, mentorship, and motivation with young athletes
      • Helping communities strengthen unity, respect, and peaceful living through sport
      • Providing in-kind donations such as equipment, sports kits, shoes, balls, or educational resources (optional but appreciated)

    Why Volunteer with SPC?

By engaging with refugee and host communities in Kakuma and Kalobeyei, volunteers will:

      • Contribute directly to peacebuilding and community resilience
      • Support the development of young talent and promote social inclusion
      • Experience cultural exchange and grassroots humanitarian work
      • Be part of a coalition committed to long-term, community-driven impact
