    Description

Become a FRIEND to Individuals Working Out of Homelessness!

Food on Foot works to house individuals experiencing homelessness. Our program is designed to teach them life skills trainings such as financial literacy, employment development skills, and other day-to-day operations to enhance their current situations and set them up for long-term success and management of their lives.

We need FRIEND mentors to connect with our program members and provide insights and skills in a one-on-one format to support their success in the areas of the program they are working through. FRIEND Mentors work in one or all of these departments to support our program members on their journey:

FINANCIAL LITERACY: working with individuals on building and managing a budget, setting financial goals, financial planning, credit fundamentals, credit management, financial decision guidance, etc.

EMPLOYMENT DEVELOPMENT: resume development, job searches, job applications, interview skills, general encouragement, etc.

HOUSING SUPPORT: looking for housing in their general budget, what kinds of things to look for when searching for housing, how to connect with landlords and managers, things to be mindful of when looking at a home, how to manage their bills when they are in a home, etc.

GENERAL SKILLS: time management, goals setting, conflict resolution, community integration, team building and support, etc.

Training is provided and we have a strong team of Resource Coaches who are also connected to these individuals to ensure their successfully housed and that they have the resources and opportunities to STAY housed!

This commitment requires just a few things: 3-4 hours per month and a positive attitude. Some knowledge that can be taught or communicated to others in any of the areas mentioned above would also be required.
