    Description

    Volunteer ESOL Instructor – Help Adult Immigrants Learn English and Digital Literacy Skills

    We are seeking Volunteers play a key role in empowering adult learners and strengthening our community.

    The Newcomer Welcoming Center (NWC) in Malden, MA, is seeking dedicated volunteer ESOL instructors to teach beginner, intermediate and advanced English classes. Volunteers help adult immigrants and refugees learn English and build digital literacy skills Volunteers play a key role in empowering adult learners and strengthening our community.

    Class Schedule:

      • Morning classes: Monday–Friday, 9:00–11:30 AM
      • Afternoon classes: Monday–Friday, 1:00–3:00 PM
      • Evening classes: Monday–Friday, 6:00–8:00 PM

    Requirements:

      • Commit to a consistent weekly schedule of at least one morning (M-F, 9:00-11:30) or afternoon (M-Th, 12:00-3:00) class for a minimum of four months
      • Proficient English speaking and writing skills
      • Intermediate computer skills
      • Passion for helping immigrant communities
      • Teaching experience not required — training and support provided
      • TESOL/TEFL students, education majors, and retired teachers encouraged to apply
      • Demonstrate patience, cultural sensitivity, and respect for diverse backgrounds

    Responsibilities

      • Teach ESOL classes using provided materials or your own lesson plans
      • Support adult learners with patience, encouragement, and cultural sensitivity
      • Track attendance and communicate basic updates to the program coordinator
      • Collaborate with AHCD staff to ensure a positive learning environment
