    Description

College mentoring program for first generation high achieving students

The Efrosini Demoulas Scholars Program is a 4-year scholarship and mentoring program for students with financial need from eastern MA. Our mission is to remove barriers to success for talented and hardworking students to help them achieve their academic potential in college and prepare for rewarding careers & long-term success.

    Mentorship Program

Beginning their freshman year of college, scholars are matched with a mentor who serves as a resource and sounding board as they navigate academic and personal challenges. Together, mentors and scholars can work on planning and exploring the possibilities for the scholars’ future, and mentors can offer guidance and support as scholars prepare to enter the workforce. Matches communicate regularly and are expected to meet virtually at least once per month during the school year. We ask that mentors make a minimum two-year commitment to the program (many of our matches last 4+ years!).

    EDS Mentor Expectations

    • Have a genuine interest in developing a supportive relationship with a college student
    • Able to consistently and reliably communicate with their mentee & program staff
    • Have at least 2-3 years of professional experience
    • Affirming and respectful
    • Able to attend required online trainings
    • Undergo a required background check

    Becoming an EDS Mentor

The EDS program is currently recruiting mentors for the 2026-27 school year. If you would like to apply to become a mentor or learn more about the program, please fill out our interest form. A member of staff will reach out to you to schedule a follow-up meeting.
