About the Role
The Dog Health Fund is seeking a passionate, community-minded Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) to join our Board of Directors. As we expand our impact, we need a clinical perspective to help guide our grant-making, educational programming, and advocacy efforts. This is a volunteer leadership position for an individual located in New Jersey or the Tri-State area who wants to use their expertise to improve the lives of dogs on a systemic level.
Key Responsibilities
- Medical Advisory: Provide clinical insight on the fund’s health initiatives, ensuring all supported projects align with modern veterinary standards.
- Strategic Leadership: Participate in quarterly board meetings to oversee the organization’s strategic plan, financial health, and long-term goals.
- Advocacy & Outreach: Serve as a bridge to the veterinary community in the Tri-State area to help raise awareness for the Fund’s mission.
- Governance: Review and approve annual budgets and organizational policies.
Qualifications
- DVM or VMD degree from an accredited veterinary college.
- Active license to practice (preferred) or a background in veterinary research/administration.
- Location: Residing in New Jersey, New York, or Connecticut (Tri-State area) to facilitate local networking and occasional in-person meetings.
- A commitment to the welfare of dogs and a desire to contribute to a collaborative, mission-driven team.
Time Commitment
- Approximately 4-6 hours per month.
- Attendance at Quarterly board meetings held hybrid in NJ.
- A 2-year term commitment.
