BACKGROUND OF EDUCATION ACTION IN CRISIS (EAC)

Education Action in Crisis (EAC) is a national humanitarian and development organization committed to improving the lives of vulnerable and crisis-affected communities in South Sudan. Founded in response to the prolonged humanitarian, social, and educational challenges facing the country, EAC works to address both immediate needs and long-term development gaps through community-driven and sustainable interventions.

South Sudan has experienced years of conflict, displacement, climate-related shocks, food insecurity, and weak service delivery systems, all of which have had a severe impact on access to quality education, civic participation, livelihoods, and social cohesion. EAC was established to respond to these challenges by supporting children, youth, women, and marginalized populations to build resilience, knowledge, and peaceful communities.

EAC’s core programming areas include Education and Education in Emergencies, Civic and Voter Education, Food Distribution and Food Security, Climate Change Adaptation, Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Preparedness, and Peace Building and Social Cohesion. Through these thematic areas, EAC aims to promote inclusive development, democratic participation, climate resilience, and lasting peace at the community level.

EAC works closely with local communities, civil society actors, government institutions, and humanitarian partners to design and implement context-specific interventions that respond to real needs on the ground. The organization places strong emphasis on accountability, transparency, gender inclusion, and conflict-sensitive programming in all its activities.

As a growing organization, EAC is actively strengthening its resource mobilization capacity to expand its impact across South Sudan. Volunteers joining EAC will be part of a dedicated team working to unlock funding opportunities that enable life-changing programs for vulnerable populations. Grant Writing Volunteers will directly contribute to shaping EAC’s future by helping transform community needs into well-designed, fundable projects.

By volunteering with EAC, individuals will gain hands-on experience in humanitarian and development programming while making a meaningful contribution to peace, resilience, and human dignity in South Sudan.
