    Workfore Development: Childcare Volunteer

    As a Reading Connection Childcare Volunteer, you play a vital role in supporting families by providing attentive, nurturing care for children in a safe and welcoming environment.

    Instructions:

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Provide attentive care to babies, toddlers, and preschool-aged children in a safe, supervised setting
    • Support each child’s social, emotional development with patience, encouragement and positive engagement
    • Assist with snack and mealtimes, creating a calm, supportive, and inclusive experience.
    • Promote and engage children in age-appropriate play, storytelling, and creative activities.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming play space that ensures safety and comfort.
    • Communicate respectfully and professionally with parents, staff, and fellow volunteers while consistently following all health and safety guidelines at all times.

    Expectations:

    • Work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
    • Follow established organizational systems and guidance from the Workforce Team.
    • Be professional, maintain strict confidentiality and respect for all families and children

    Qualifications:

    • Dependable, detail-oriented, commitment to providing quality care and follow-through.
    • Patient, nurturing, welcoming to both adult students, young children, and infants
    • Enthusiastically, engage children through reading, singing, games and interactive activities.
    • Comfortable with light lifting and active, hands-on participation in daily childcare routines.
    • Prior experience is helpful but not required; training and support are provided.
    • Background check required.
