Marketing Manager (Pro Bono)
Job Overview
As a Marketing Manager at the Veteran Project Manager Mentor Alliance (VPMMA), you will provide specialized pro bono support to enhance our brand presence through high-leverage strategy and process design. This role focuses on systemizing our external communications—creating the "playbooks" and schedules that ensure consistent messaging across digital platforms. You will play a vital role in our 100% volunteer-led mission to empower the veteran and military spouse community.
Key Responsibilities
- Comprehensive Marketing Planning: Develop and execute a master marketing plan that encompasses digital marketing and advertising, community outreach, and the creation of standardized marketing materials to broaden the organization's reach.
- Strategic Oversight: Develop and maintain a high-level digital campaign calendar and social media schedule for others to help execute.
- Curated Content Management: Oversee the "batching" of digital content and newsletters, utilizing templates to ensure brand consistency with minimal design time.
- Process Optimization: Document 1–2 standardized workflows per month (e.g., "How to post a Member Spotlight") to ensure continuity and ease of use for future volunteers.
- Focused Promotion Coordination: Advise on the visibility of VPMMA programs and recruitment campaigns through targeted, high-impact efforts rather than high-volume posting.
- Monthly Performance Review: Conduct a brief monthly review of digital analytics to provide data-driven recommendations for future outreach.
- Core Messaging Support: Act as the "final eye" on key public statements to maintain a professional organizational voice.
Skills and Qualifications
- Professional Experience: Proven background in marketing, digital communications, or a related field.
- Project Management: Strong ability to manage workflows and document processes in a remote environment.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills with a focus on clear, consistent messaging.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with social media management tools and digital content creation.
- Community Passion: A desire to support military service members, veterans, and military spouses.
Position Details

- Time Commitment: 3-5 hours per week, flexible based on project timelines.
- Location: Remote.
- Reporting Structure: Primary report to the Director of Strategic Operations and Initiatives; alternate report to the Chief Experience Officer.

Benefits
- Professional Development: Opportunity to upskill and gain leadership experience in a nonprofit setting, including access to Google Certificates on Coursera.
- Networking: Connect with a diverse community of project management professionals and veteran advocates.
- Recognition: Eligible for volunteer awards and letters of recommendation based on contributions.
- Impact: Directly contribute to the career success and life transitions of those who have served
Standard Volunteer Expectations
- Reliability: Commit to a regular volunteer schedule and complete assigned matching and training tasks promptly.
- Professionalism: Uphold the VPMMA Code of Conduct and treat all mentors and mentees with respect and dignity.
- Confidentiality: Protect the privacy of mentees and the proprietary information of VPMMA, ensuring no sensitive data is disclosed.
- Compliance: Adhere to all VPMMA safety, security, and anti-discrimination guidelines.
