    About Us

    The Amara Foundation is a developing 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on reducing barriers for individuals with disabilities through transportation, community resources, education, and long-term support systems.

    Our mission is to create pathways to opportunity and independence for people with disabilities by removing transportation barriers, connecting communities to resources, building accessible education options, and establishing a system where access is the standard, not the exception.

    The organization is currently in its foundational development phase and focused heavily on governance, infrastructure, strategic planning, research, partnership development, and long-term sustainability.

    Position Overview

    The Amara Foundation is seeking a Volunteer Board Treasurer to assist with financial organization, budgeting discussions, expense tracking, governance oversight, and long-term financial planning as the organization continues building its operational foundation.

    This role is ideal for someone interested in helping develop sustainable systems and responsible financial practices within a mission-driven nonprofit organization.

    Responsibilities

    Assist with organizational budgeting and financial oversight

    Help maintain accurate financial records and expense tracking

    Support financial transparency and governance discussions

    Assist with reviewing organizational spending and financial planning

    Participate in strategic planning and sustainability discussions

    Support grant, fundraising, and partnership discussions when appropriate

    Collaborate with board leadership regarding long-term organizational development

    Qualifications

    Strong organizational and communication skills

    Interest in nonprofit governance and financial sustainability

    Ability to maintain accurate financial documentation

    Ability to work collaboratively within a mission-driven organization

    Passion for disability access and long-term systems improvement

    Previous experience in bookkeeping, budgeting, finance, nonprofit operations, administration, leadership, or related fields is beneficial but not required

    Commitment

    Expected commitment is approximately 4–10 hours per month depending on organizational activity and meeting schedules.
