Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a New York City–based nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth experiencing housing instability through mentorship, education, and community. Our work centers dignity, equity, and accountability—ensuring that every program not only feels meaningful, but demonstrates measurable impact.

About PromiseMeasure | Data, Evaluation & Learning

PromiseMeasure is MAP’s Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) division. The division ensures that programs are measured, understood, and continuously improved through responsible data practices, meaningful evaluation, and clear impact reporting.

    Role Overview

We are seeking a Data & Impact Analyst to support data collection, analysis, and reporting across MAP programs.

This role transforms program activity into insight—ensuring that MAP can clearly demonstrate outcomes to funders, partners, and stakeholders while strengthening internal decision-making.

This is a critical role for grants, reporting, and organizational credibility.

    Key Responsibilities

    Data Collection & Management

    • Support collection, organization, and validation of program data
    • Maintain clean, structured datasets across programs
    • Ensure consistency and accuracy in data tracking systems

    Analysis & Insights

    • Analyze program data to identify trends, outcomes, and areas for improvement
    • Translate data into actionable insights for program and leadership teams
    • Support development of key performance indicators (KPIs)

    Impact Reporting

    • Assist in preparing reports for grants, partners, and stakeholders
    • Support creation of dashboards, summaries, and data visualizations
    • Contribute to storytelling through data—connecting numbers to real impact

    Program Evaluation & Learning

    • Support evaluation frameworks aligned with program goals
    • Collaborate with Program and SEL teams to measure student growth (non-punitive, developmental)
    • Identify gaps in data and recommend improvements

    Data Governance & Compliance Alignment

    • Ensure data practices align with privacy and compliance standards (in collaboration with PromiseShield)
    • Support ethical data use, storage, and reporting practices

    Cross-Team Collaboration

    • Work closely with Program, Policy, and Communications teams to align data with narrative and strategy
    • Maintain timely, professional responsiveness via Google Workspace

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Experience working with data (Excel, Google Sheets, or similar tools)
    • Ability to organize, clean, and interpret datasets
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Alignment with MAP’s mission and dignity-centered values

    Preferred

    • Experience in data analysis, evaluation, or research
    • Familiarity with dashboards or visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
    • Experience in nonprofit, education, or social impact settings
    • Understanding of MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning) frameworks

    Commitment

    • Volunteer role
    • Approximately 5–10 hours per week
    • Minimum 6-month commitment preferred
    • Fully remote with optional NYC-based collaboration

    What You’ll Gain

    • Experience in data analysis, evaluation, and impact measurement
    • Exposure to grant reporting and nonprofit data systems
    • Collaboration with leadership, program, and policy teams
    • Professional references and letters of recommendation
    • A meaningful role turning data into insight—and insight into impact
