    Description

    EPOCH Dream Center is seeking two full-time AmeriCorps Members for the 2026-2027 service year.

    Epoch is a free after-school and summer program serving under-resourced children in first through seventh grades with a mission to mentor, nurture, encourage, and equip children in the areas of academics, character development, behavior, and emotional wellness.

    Member Responsibilities:

    • Plan and lead large group lessons in age-based classrooms which will include at least one of the following:
      • Self-Awareness
      • Self-Management
      • Social Awareness
      • Responsible Decision Making
      • Relationship Skills
    • Conduct initial intake interviews with new students
    • Create and manage files for each student
    • Conduct one-on-one sessions with students based on need, determined by both formal and informal referrals.
    • Mediate conflict resolution for students and staff as needed
    • Intentionally foster relationships with parents and guardians to support the students’ social emotional wellness outside of EPOCH
    • Provide initial and ongoing education and support to staff through staff training and staff development
    • Provide classroom support by:
      • Providing Mentorship to an assigned teacher
      • Helping develop systems and procedures
      • Creating and maintaining classroom order
      • Supporting behavior interventions
    • Document all large group and individual student sessions
    • Document significant parent communication
    • Document any significant incidents
    • Track the number of large group and individual sessions
    • Conduct SEL surveys at the beginning of each school year and again at the end of the year.
    • Analyze data from SEL surveys for tracking grant purposes.
    • Collaborate with the Community Liaison as well as the School Liaison to provide a wraparound approach to the social emotional wellness of our students

    Requirementsfor applicants include the following:

    • Have a strong interest in serving the community
    • Be able to relate to diverse populations
    • Be at least 18 years of age
    • Able to provide copy of either high school diploma, GED, or college transcript
    • Have reliable transportation
    • Be available to attend the free, AmeriCorps class at SU alternate Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., during the Fall and Spring semesters.
    • Must successfully pass a comprehensive Criminal History Check, which includes FBI fingerprinting
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or lawful permanent resident alien
    • Applicants DO NOT need to be college students, anyone from the community who fits the above requirements may participate.

    Benefits available to the AmeriCorps Member:

    • A bi-weekly stipend of $1,062
    • An education award of $7,395 for future educational expenses or repayment of student loans - members who are age 55 or older may gift their ed. award to a child or grandchild
    • Federal student loan forbearance while in service, with exemption from paying interest accrued during that time upon successful completion
    • 8 tuition-free credits at Salisbury University for completion of training course
    • Health insurance and child care reimbursement, if eligible
    • Access to AmeriCorps Alumni Network

    The member will begin on or after August 15th, 2026 and must complete 1700 hours by August 14th, 2027.

    This position is offered through a partnership with ShoreCorps, the AmeriCorps program at Salisbury University. It is contingent upon federal funding and approval of the AmeriCorps office.
