Reforestation Supporter

Purpose:

This porgramme aims at contributing to the national reforestation goal by helping rural communities access to necessary information, knowledge and skills in reforestation.

Rationale:

Musanze is located in the northern part of Rwanda. It is surrounded by volcanoes and is primarily an agricultural community. Trees are cut down largely for farming and there is an urgent need to find new and innovative ways to bring back more trees while allowing the people to farm. We are fortunate to have very fertile soil and fast growing trees. Farmers are doing all they can to utilize the little they have and are becoming more aware of their environment and the importance of protecting the trees in the surrounding towns and villages. In the past we have planted trees along roadways and in areas where they can grow along with other agricultural products. Eucalyptus trees are fast growing and can be used for firewood as well as building material after a relatively short time. We would love to have you come and contribute your knowledge and experience to this project
