    Description

About Anchor & Legacy With A Purpose, Inc. We are a newly established nonprofit based in Dorchester, MA, dedicated to providing a stable "Anchor" for youth and families impacted by violence, trauma, and grief. Our mission is to empower our community to build a "Legacy" of healing and success through mentorship, creative arts (The Legacy Lab), and direct support for families navigating homicide loss.

The Role We are looking for a foundational leader to serve as Clerk (Secretary) on our Board of Directors. This is a volunteer leadership position for someone who believes in the power of organization and transparency. The Clerk is the "heart of the records," ensuring that our decisions are documented and our history is preserved as we grow.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Meeting Minutes: Attend monthly Board meetings (virtual or in-person) to record clear, accurate minutes of all discussions and votes.
    • Record Custodian: Maintain the official "Corporate Binder," including the Articles of Organization, Bylaws, and the IRS Determination Letter.
    • Meeting Logistics: Coordinate with the President to send out meeting notices and agendas to all board members in a timely manner.
    • Bylaw Compliance: Ensure meetings follow our established Bylaws, particularly regarding the recording and transcription of proceedings to maintain high standards of accountability.
    • Annual Filings: Assist the President in ensuring that annual reports for the Secretary of the Commonwealth are filed correctly.

    Qualifications:

    • Detail-Oriented: You have a "knack" for capturing the important details and keeping documents organized.
    • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using Google Workspace (Docs/Drive), Zoom, and digital transcription tools.
    • Mission-Driven: A genuine passion for supporting youth in Boston and helping families turn pain into purpose.
    • Reliability: Ability to commit to one Board meeting per month (approx. 2 hours) plus 1-2 hours of administrative follow-up.
    • Lived Experience: While not required, we highly value individuals who understand the challenges of the communities we serve.

Why Join Us? As a founding board member, you won't just be "taking notes"—you will be helping to build the structure of an organization that will change lives in Dorchester and beyond. This is an opportunity to use your administrative talents to create a lasting legacy of hope.
