The Alexander Review (TAR) is seeking a Social Media Strategist (Volunteer) to relaunch and develop our Instagram presence from the ground up.
Our Instagram account is currently inactive. We are looking for someone to take strategic ownership of the platform and build it with structure, clarity, and long-term ambition.
TAR is currently pre-revenue, so this is an unpaid volunteer role. However, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to become a permanent member of the team as we grow. This is a genuine opportunity to shape and build an emerging publication at an early stage.
This is not an internship. This is a strategic role with real responsibility.

- Define visual identity, tone, and content direction
- Create and schedule posts, carousels, and short-form video (Reels)
- Translate written articles and content from issues into engaging Instagram-native content
- Establish consistent posting cadence and content calendar
- Build and engage a targeted audience aligned with TAR’s mission
- Monitor analytics and refine strategy based on performance
- Contribute to shaping TAR’s digital presence and public positioning
Who We’re Looking For
- Strong understanding of Instagram growth and engagement mechanics
- Strategic thinker with good design instincts
- Interested in media, culture, and/or politics
- Self-motivated, organised, and consistent
- Looking for meaningful long-term involvement in a growing publication
What You’ll Gain
- Strategic ownership of a core growth platform
- Public credit as part of the TAR team
- Hands-on experience building a media brand
- Portfolio development in digital strategy and audience growth
- Opportunity for a permanent role as TAR scales
If you are serious about building something from the ground up and want meaningful responsibility in a growing publication, we would like to hear from you.
