    Florida Youth At Risk:Achieving Readiness is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth ages 12–25 through creative arts, mentorship, and workforce development. We provide safe, inspiring spaces for young people to dream, connect, and grow, helping them build skills, confidence, and opportunities for a brighter future.

    Role Overview

    Florida Youth At Risk (FYAR) is seeking a reliable and strong Online Community Manager who will help FYAR build, engage, and maintain a positive and active online community of volunteers, youth, families, partners, supporters, and other stakeholders.

    The volunteer will manage day-to-day community engagement across FYAR’s digital platforms by creating conversations, responding to questions and comments, sharing relevant content, encouraging participation, and helping community members feel connected to FYAR’s mission.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Monitor FYAR’s online community platforms and respond to comments, questions, and messages.
    • Encourage meaningful conversations and engagement among community members.
    • Create and share engaging community-focused content.
    • Welcome new members and help them understand how they can participate.
    • Identify common questions, concerns, and feedback from the community.
    • Develop engagement activities such as polls, discussions, Q&As, and community challenges.
    • Track engagement and provide insights on what content and activities are performing well.
    • Help maintain a respectful, inclusive, and positive online environment.

    Requirements

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Comfortable communicating with people from different backgrounds.
    • Good understanding of social media and online communities.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Ability to respond professionally and respectfully to questions or concerns.
    • Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the team.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Reliable and able to meet agreed deadlines.
    • Interest in youth development, community engagement, nonprofit work, or social impact.
    • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling community information.

    Ideal Candidate

    The ideal candidate is someone who is friendly, creative, proactive, and passionate about building relationships online.

    They should enjoy starting conversations, encouraging people to participate, and creating a welcoming digital environment. They should also be comfortable taking initiative, identifying opportunities to increase engagement, and suggesting new ideas without needing to be given every task.

    Nice to Have

    The following experience or skills are beneficial but not required:

    • Previous experience managing an online community.
    • Experience with nonprofit organizations or community-based programs.
    • Experience managing Facebook Groups, LinkedIn communities, Slack, or other online communities.
    • Experience with social media management.
    • Familiarity with social media analytics and engagement metrics.
    • Experience creating graphics using Canva or similar tools.
    • Experience with content calendars and scheduling platforms.
    • Basic knowledge of digital marketing or SEO.
    • Experience handling online customer service or community support.
    • Experience developing online campaigns, discussions, polls, or engagement activities.
    • Familiarity with tools such as Monday.com, Slack, Google Workspace, or similar collaboration platforms.
