    Typical patient visit: about 1 hour per week per patient — but you choose your level of involvement. Some volunteers visit multiple patients, while others help in the office or support events, giving as much time as they’re able.

It’s about listening to their stories, honoring their life, offering companionship, and creating moments of comfort and peace. It also means supporting families, easing feelings of loneliness, and helping make each day feel dignified and meaningful. Even small acts — like holding a hand, sharing memories, reading aloud, or simply sitting in silence — can provide comfort and reassurance that they are not alone.

    1. Interview: Meet with the Volunteer Coordinator to discuss your interests, availability, and volunteer roles.
    2. Apply: Complete the volunteer application form to begin the process.
    3. Onboarding: Complete a background check, TB test, drug screen, and required hospice training.
    4. Training: Learn about hospice philosophy, patient care, boundaries, safety, and communication.
    5. Get Matched: Once onboarding is complete, you’ll be matched with a patient or role that fits your interests and schedule.

    🌻 Seeking Hospice Volunteers for Rural Visits 🌻

    Are you looking for a meaningful way to make a difference? We are currently seeking compassionate volunteers to provide companionship and support to hospice patients living in rural communities outside of Wichita.

    💜 What Volunteers Do:

    • Visit patients in their homes to offer comfort, conversation, and emotional support.
    • Read, share stories, listen to music, or simply sit together.
    • Provide caregiver relief by being a kind and consistent presence.

    📍 Where:

    Rural communities within a 60-mile radius of Wichita — we’ll match you with patients based on your comfort and driving distance.

    🕐 Time Commitment:

    Flexible — even 1–2 hours a week can make a meaningful difference.
