Position Description: Story Writer
Position Type: Volunteer (Unpaid)
Time Commitment: Flexible; 5–10 hours per week
Start Date: Immediate
Reports to: Senior Editor
Location: Primarily remote.
Overview:
We are seeking passionate and creative volunteer story writers to help craft compelling stories that align with our mission. As a Story Writer, you will contribute to our storytelling initiatives, including our Tales from the Unfortunate series and the A Tales Along Way Collection. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring writers to build their portfolio, develop their skills, and make a meaningful impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write engaging short stories, character profiles, and prequels related to our book series and programs.
- Collaborate with our team to ensure stories align with Deliverance Charities’ mission and tone.
- Conduct research as needed to ensure authenticity and accuracy in storytelling.
- Participate in virtual team meetings to discuss ideas, receive feedback, and share updates.
- Edit and revise drafts based on team feedback to produce polished and impactful narratives.
Qualifications:
- Passion for storytelling and a strong interest in social impact topics such as resilience, empowerment, and community building.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt to different tones and styles.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment.
- Willingness to receive constructive feedback and make revisions.
- Familiarity with issues like domestic abuse recovery, personal growth, or community empowerment is a plus but not required.

Schedule:
- Self-determined schedule
- At least 5 hours a week, anything more is appreciated
- Monthly updates and check-ins submitted via email or chat.
