    Description

Organization: Aid Afghanistan for Education (AAFE)

Commitment: 5–10 hours/week (flexible; remote with optional in-person outreach)

    About Us:

Aid Afghanistan for Education (AAFE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering marginalized Afghan girls and children through education. AAFE enrolls street-working children in private schools and provides online English and computer classes for girls banned from formal education. Before 2021, AAFE educated more than 7,000 young women, and today we continue to support learners whose futures depend on continued access to knowledge and opportunity.

    Role Overview:

AAFE is seeking a Volunteer IT Support Helper to provide reliable, day-to-day technical assistance to support our operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, simplifying systems, and helping non-technical team members work more efficiently. The volunteer will work closely with the Executive Director and, as needed, other volunteers.

In addition, we are seeking a creative and detail-oriented volunteer to support AAFE’s communications and digital outreach. This role combines graphic design with the management of our Google Ad Grant campaigns, helping us share our mission and engage a broader audience.

    Key Responsibilities:

    IT support:

    • Assist with email setup, configuration, and troubleshooting (for example, organizational email accounts, forwarding, permissions, and access issues).
    • Provide basic IT troubleshooting and technical support for common issues (login problems, software setup, file access, device compatibility).
    • Help maintain and organize digital systems such as shared drives and collaboration tools.
    • Advise on best practices for IT security, password management, and data organization.
    • Recommend simple, cost-effective tools or workflows to reduce recurring technical issues.
    • Document basic processes and create short, easy-to-follow guides for staff and volunteers when helpful.

    Graphic & Content Design

    • Design visually compelling newsletters and email campaigns using Constant Contact
    • Create graphic materials for brochures, annual reports, and other outreach materials
    • Develop content and visuals for social media campaigns

    Google Ad Grant Management

    • Create and manage campaigns using AAFE’s Google Ad Grant account
    • Monitor performance and make adjustments to maximize impact

    Qualifications:

    • General IT support or helpdesk experience (professional, academic, or volunteer).
    • Comfortable working with email platforms (such as Google Workspace or similar systems).
    • Familiarity with common productivity tools (cloud storage, document sharing, video conferencing).
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to explain technical concepts in clear, non-technical language.
    • Reliable, responsive, and able to work independently.
    • Creative mindset with a strong eye for design and detail
    • Experience with design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
    • Familiarity with Google Ads or willingness to learn
    • Ability to work independently and take initiative
    • A strong commitment and genuine interest in AAFE’s mission and values.

    Commitment:

    • Minimum 5–10 hours per week, depending on availability and organizational needs.
    • Flexible schedule with opportunities for long-term involvement.

    What You Gain:

    • Meaningful impact by supporting an organization advancing education for Afghan girls and children.
    • Flexible, remote volunteer opportunity that fits around other commitments.
    • Experience working closely with nonprofit leadership.
    • A chance to help shape and improve AAFE’s internal systems.
